ක්‍රිකට් ක්‍රීඩක චාමික කරුණාරත්නට එරෙහිව පවතින පීතෘත්වය පිළිබඳ නඩුවකට අදාළව, DNA පරීක්ෂණයක් සඳහා ඔහුගේ රුධිර සාම්පල ලබාගැනීමට නියෝගයක් නිකුත් කරන ලෙස කළ ඉල්ලීමක් කොළඹ දිසා අධිකරණය අද (02) ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළේය. ගුවන් නියමුවරියක වන රසිකා සෙව්වන්දි විසින් ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලද පැමිණිල්ලකට අදාළව මෙම ඉල්ලීම සිදු කර තිබුණි. ඇය අධිකරණයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින්නේ තම දරුවාගේ පියා ලෙස චාමික කරුණාරත්නගේ නම ඇතුළත් කර උප්පැන්න සහතිකයක් නිකුත් කරන ලෙස රෙජිස්ට්‍රාර් ජනරාල්වරයාට නියෝගයක් නිකුත් කරන ලෙසයි. මෙම ඉල්ලීම පිළිබඳ නියෝගය ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කරමින් කොළඹ දිසා විනිසුරු ලලිත් කන්නන්ගර මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, අදාළ ක්‍රීඩකයාගෙන් DNA පරීක්ෂණය සඳහා රුධිර සාම්පලයක් ලබාගැනීමට බලකිරීමට තරම් ප්‍රමාණවත් කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට පැමිණිලි පාර්ශවය අපොහොසත් වී ඇති බවයි. ඒ අනුව එම ඉල්ලීම අධිකරණය විසින් ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරන ලදී. DNA පරීක්ෂණය සඳහා වූ ඉල්ලීම මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ ද, නඩුවේ ඉදිරි කටයුතු සඳහා එය ලබන ඔක්තෝබර් මස 09 වනදා යළි කැඳවීමට අධිකරණය නියෝග කළේය. Court Denies DNA Test Request in Chamika Karunaratne Paternity Case The Colombo District Court has today (October 2) rejected a request to obtain blood samples from Sri Lankan cricketer Chamika Karunaratne for a DNA test related to an ongoing paternity lawsuit. This request was presented by Rashika Sewwandi, the complainant in the case. She sought a court order requiring the Registrar General to issue a birth certificate that lists Karunaratne as the father of her child. While announcing the decision, District Judge Lalith Kannanagara remarked that the complainant had failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify the need for DNA samples from the cricketer. Consequently, the court dismissed the paternity request. Although the DNA testing request was turned down, the judge scheduled a subsequent hearing for further proceedings in the case on October 9. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
