Amarasinghe vehemently rejected accusations suggesting that he entered into a secret agreement with the opposition leader. He also refuted claims made by Nagananada Kodithuwakku, who filed a complaint with the bribery commission, labeling them as unfounded. Responding to inquiries regarding a case involving a motor vehicle importer’s licensing agent, Amarasinghe stated his involvement was solely to represent his client as a legal practitioner. He emphasized that appearing before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court alongside several prominent attorneys is merely part of fulfilling his professional obligations. Highlighting the context of the complaint, Amarasinghe pointed out that Kodithuwakku had previously participated as a mediator in related legal proceedings. However, following his disbarment on February 29, 2024, by the Supreme Court, these interventions ceased. Describing the accusations against him as malice-driven, Amarasinghe reminded that false or malicious complaints under Section 119 of the Prevention of Corruption Act are punishable offenses.
