මහර බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්‍රයේ ඇති වූ නොසන්සුන්තාවයෙන් පසු, එම පරිශ්‍රය මේ වන විට දැඩි ආරක්ෂක රැකවල් මධ්‍යයේ පවතින අයුරු දැකගත හැකිය. ගැටුමෙන් පසු බන්ධනාගාර අභ්‍යන්තරයේ සිදුව ඇති දේපළ හානිය අතිවිශාල වන අතර, බොහෝ ගොඩනැගිලි ගිනිබත් වී සුන්බුන් බවට පත්ව තිබේ. ප්‍රචණ්ඩකාරී ක්‍රියා හේතුවෙන් බන්ධනාගාර රෝහල, මුළුතැන්ගෙය, රැඳවියන් පුනරුත්ථාපනය සඳහා භාවිත කළ වැඩපොළවල් රැසක් සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම විනාශ වී ඇත. ගොඩනැගිලි තුළ තිබූ උපකරණ, ලිපිගොනු සහ අනෙකුත් භාණ්ඩ අළු දූවිලි බවට පත්ව ඇති අයුරු ඡායාරූපවලින් පැහැදිලි වේ. බන්ධනාගාරයේ ආරක්ෂිත වැටවල් සහ දොරටුවලට ද දැඩි ප්‍රහාර එල්ල වී තිබේ. පවතින තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද හමුදාවේ සන්නද්ධ රථ සහ පොලිස් ජල ප්‍රහාරක රථ බන්ධනාගාරය අවට ස්ථානගත කර ඇති අතර, ත්‍රිවිධ හමුදාව සහ පොලිස් විශේෂ කාර්ය බලකාය එක්ව බන්ධනාගාරයේ ආරක්ෂාව තහවුරු කර ඇත. බන්ධනාගාරය ඉදිරිපිට මාර්ගවල ද දැඩි මුර සංචාර ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ. ප්‍රදේශයේ සාමය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා පැනවූ පොලිස් ඇඳිරි නීතිය තවදුරටත් ක්‍රියාත්මක වන අතර, සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් වන විමර්ශන කටයුතු ආරක්ෂක අංශ සහ බන්ධනාගාර බලධාරීන් විසින් අඛණ්ඩව සිදු කරනු ලබයි.
