විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ ධුර කාලය සහ විශ්‍රාම වයස සම්බන්ධයෙන් ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති ආණ්ඩුක්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධනය වෙනුවෙන් අවශ්‍ය වුවහොත් ජනමත විචාරණයකට මුහුණ දීමට රජය පූර්ණ සූදානමකින් පසුවන බව ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රීනී හිරුණි විජේසිංහ මහත්මිය පවසයි. ස්වාධීන රූපවාහිනී සේවයේ වැඩසටහනකට එක්වෙමින් ඇය මේ බව සඳහන් කළාය. එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ මන්ත්‍රීවරිය කියා සිටියේ, 2022 වසරේ ලබාදුන් අධිකරණ තීන්දුවක් පදනම් කරගනිමින් විපක්ෂය විවිධ මත පළ කළද, ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණයේ පූර්ණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ලක් හමුවේ එම තීරණ නැවත සමාලෝචනය කිරීමේ හැකියාව පවතින බවයි. රජය මෙම සංශෝධන ඉදිරිපත් කරන්නේ නිසි නීතිමය තර්කයන් මත පදනම්ව බවත්, ඒ සඳහා අධිකරණය ලබාදෙන ඕනෑම තීන්දුවකට ගරු කිරීමට රජය බැඳී සිටින බවත් ඇය පෙන්වා දුන්නාය. Government Prepared for Referendum on Constitutional Amendments Regarding Judges' Tenure and Retirement Age The government is fully prepared to face a public referendum if necessary, concerning proposed constitutional amendments related to the tenure and retirement age of judges, according to Hiruni Wijesinghe, a member of the National People's Power party. She made this statement during a recent program on an independent television channel. Wijesinghe further remarked that despite varying opinions from the opposition based on a 2022 court ruling, there remains the possibility of reviewing the decision before a full bench of the Supreme Court. She emphasized that the government is presenting these amendments grounded in legitimate legal arguments and is committed to respecting any ruling rendered by the judiciary. “Should the court determine that a public referendum is necessary for these amendments, we will certainly not shy away from it. We have a clear public mandate and authority. The people support our government,” she asserted. In her critique of the opposition's activities, Wijesinghe noted that some leaders within the opposition have been compelled to face legal actions, leading to a significant erosion of their political base. She warned that if they speak out, they risk losing votes by the thousands.
