දකුණු මුහුදේ පාවෙන බහාලුම් 15ක්..

දිවයින වටා පවතින අයහපත් කාලගුණ තත්ත්වය යම්තාක් දුරට සමනය වී තිබුණද, පුත්තලම සිට පොතුවිල් දක්වා වූ මුහුදු තීරයේ තවදුරටත් පවතින දැඩි සුළං සහ රළු මුහුදු ස්වභාවය හේතුවෙන් පනවා ඇති ධීවර තහනම තවදුරටත් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බව ධීවර හා ජලජ සම්පත් දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල් සුසන්ත කහවත්ත මහතා පවසයි. ඒ අනුව පුත්තලම, හලාවත, මීගමුව, කොළඹ, කළුතර, ගාල්ල, මාතර, හම්බන්තොට සහ පොතුවිල් දක්වා වන වෙරළාසන්න මුහුදේ රැකියාවේ නිරත වන කුඩා හා එක්දින ධීවර යාත්‍රා සඳහා පනවා ඇති තහනම නැවත දැනුම් දෙන තුරු බලාත්මක වේ. කාලගුණ විද්‍යා දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ දත්ත අනුව මුහුදේ ස්වභාවය යහපත් වූ වහාම මෙම තහනම ඉවත් කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවද ඔහු සඳහන් කළේය. පසුගිය දින කිහිපය තුළ කාලගුණ නිවේදන නොසලකා මුහුදු ගිය මන්නාරම, කල්පිටිය, හලාවත සහ මීගමුව ප්‍රදේශවල ධීවරයින් පස්දෙනෙකු (05) ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්වීම පිළිබඳව සිය කණගාටුව පළකළ අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරයා, ධීවරයින්ගේ ආරක්ෂාව වෙනුවෙන් නිකුත් කරන නිල නිවේදන පිළිබඳව දැඩි අවධානය යොමුකරන ලෙසත්, ඕනෑම ප්‍රදේශයක රැකියාවේ නිරත වන විට අනිවාර්යයෙන්ම ජීවිතාරක්ෂක කබා පැළඳ සිටින ලෙසත් නැවතත් අවධාරණය කළේය. මීට දින දෙකකට පෙර කොළඹ වරායට ඔබ්බෙන් මුහුදට පතිත වූ හිස් බහාලුම් 17 න් මෙතෙක් හමුවී ඇත්තේ බහාලුම් 02 ක් පමණි. ඉතිරි බහාලුම් 15 ම පවතින දියවැල් ස්වභාවය අනුව කොස්ගොඩ, ගාල්ල, රත්ගම සහ මාතර ඇතුළු දකුණු මුහුදු තීරය දෙසට පාවී යාමේ වැඩි ඉඩකඩක් පවතින බව නිරීක්ෂණය වී ඇත. මෙම පාවෙන බහාලුම්වල ධීවර යාත්‍රා ගැටීමෙන් බරපතල අනතුරු සිදුවිය හැකි බැවින් දකුණු මුහුදේ ගමන් කරන බහුදින යාත්‍රා ඇතුළු සියලුම ධීවරයින් ඒ පිළිබඳව අතිශය විමසිලිමත් විය යුතුය. යම් හෙයකින් එවැනි බහාලුම් නිරීක්ෂණය වුවහොත් වහාම ධීවර දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ ගුවන් විදුලි මධ්‍යස්ථාන වෙත දැනුම් දෙන ලෙසද අධ්‍යක්ෂ ජනරාල්වරයා ඉල්ලා සිටියි. Fishing Ban Extended Amid Adverse Weather Conditions Despite a slight improvement in the overall adverse weather conditions around the island, severe winds and turbulent sea conditions along the coastline from Puttalam to Pothuvil have prompted the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to extend the fishing ban. Director General Susanta Kahawatta confirmed that the prohibition on fishing activities remains in effect. As per the directive, the ban is specifically applicable to small and one-day fishing vessels operating in coastal waters from Puttalam, Halawatha, and Negombo to Colombo, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, and Pothuvil. Kahawatta noted that the ban will be lifted promptly once the sea conditions improve, as verified by the Meteorology Department’s data. The Director General expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragic incident where five fishermen lost their lives in Mannar, Kalpitiya, Halawatha, and Negombo after disregarding weather warnings. He emphasized the need for strict adherence to official advisories regarding fishermen’s safety and reiterated the importance of wearing life jackets while engaged in fishing activities. In addition, he reported that among the 17 abandoned fishing boats spotted off the Colombo harbor two days ago, only two have been recovered. The remaining 15 boats were likely swept away towards the southern coastal waters, including areas such as Kosgoda, Galle, Ratgama, and Matara, due to the prevailing strong sea conditions. There is a significant risk of serious accidents occurring due to collisions with these floating vessels, thus all fishermen navigating the southern seas, including those on multi-day journeys, are urged to remain vigilant. Kahawatta called upon anyone spotting such abandoned boats to immediately notify the Fisheries Department’s communication centers. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
