This information was presented to the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court on the 21st of the month. During the court proceedings, officials from the Crime Investigation Department's Commercial Crimes Division detailed the case before Chief Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama. Authorities disclosed that the individual had been taken to Azerbaijan under the pretense of relocating to Italy, suggesting that organized criminal groups may be involved in the abduction. They revealed that the victim is likely being held captive by a criminal gang operating either in Libya or another country. In response to complaints regarding the ransom demand, the Crime Investigation Department is diligently conducting inquiries into various forms of violence inflicted upon the kidnapped Sri Lankan national.
