රථවාහන වැරදි සිදුකරන රියදුරන් වෙනුවෙන් ‘වැරදි ලකුණු ක්‍රමවේදයක්’ හඳුන්වා දීමේ මාස හයක නියමු ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ලබන ඔක්තෝබර් මාසයේ සිට ආරම්භ කරන බව ප්‍රවාහන , මහාමාර්‍ග සහ නාගරික සංවර්‍ධන අමාත්‍ය බිමල් රත්නායක මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය . අද (28) ප්‍රවාහන අමාත්‍යාංශයේ පැවති මාධ්‍ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා සඳහන් කළේ , මෙම නියමු වැඩසටහන ලබන වසරේ මාර්‍තු 31 වන දින දක්වා ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති බවයි . මෙරට මාර්‍ග අනතුරු අවම කර ගැනීමේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණින් ප්‍රවාහන අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් මෙම තීරණය ගෙන තිබේ . යෝජිත නව ක්‍රමවේදය යටතේ රියදුරන් වෙත වසර දෙකක කාලයක් සඳහා නිශ්චිත ලකුණු ප්‍රමාණයක් හිමිවන අතර , ඔවුන් විසින් මාර්‍ගයේදී සිදුකරනු ලබන රථවාහන නීති උල්ලංඝනය කිරීම්වල බරපතළකම අනුව අදාළ ලකුණු ප්‍රමාණයෙන් කොටසක් කපා හැරීම ( අඩු කිරීම ) සිදු කෙරේ . රථවාහන වැරදි සඳහා දඩ මුදල් ගෙවීම වෙනුවෙන් දැනට හඳුන්වා දී ඇති මාර්‍ගගත (Online) ක්‍රමවේදය තවදුරටත් පුළුල් කරමින් , මෙම ලකුණු ක්‍රමය ඩිජිටල් තාක්ෂණය ඔස්සේ ක්‍රියාවට නැංවීමට රජය අපේක්ෂා කරයි . එම ඩිජිටල් පද්ධතිය හරහා රියදුරන් සිදුකරන වැරදි වාර්‍තා කර ගැනීමටත් , ඊට අදාළව ලකුණු අඩු කිරීමටත් නිලධාරීන්ට පහසුකම් සැලසෙනු ඇත . New System to Penalize Traffic Offenders in Sri Lanka Launching This October The Ministry of Transport is set to introduce a new system aimed at penalizing drivers who commit traffic violations, commencing in October. Minister of Highways and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake announced this six-month initiative during a media briefing at the ministry on the 28th of this month. Designed to operate until March 31 of next year, the program is part of a broader strategy to reduce road accidents in the country. The ministry emphasized that this decision reflects its commitment to enhancing road safety. Under the proposed scheme, drivers will be assigned a specific number of points over a two-year period. However, points will be deducted based on the severity of any traffic law violations committed by the driver. To facilitate the payment of fines for traffic offenses, the government plans to expand the existing online system. The implementation of the points system is expected to be integrated with digital technology. This digital framework will not only streamline the process of reporting infractions but will also enable officials to easily adjust point reductions when appropriate. *Note: In case of any discrepancy between the Sinhala and English versions, the Sinhala version shall prevail.
